Stage 1 Remapping

PERFORMANCE · SAFELY UNLOCKED

More power, stronger pull and a sharper throttle response from the hardware your car already has — no new parts, fully reversible, and I come to you anywhere across Bridgend, Cardiff, Swansea and the M4 corridor.

What is a Stage 1 remap?

A Stage 1 remap rewrites your vehicle’s ECU (engine control unit) software to optimise fuelling, boost pressure and ignition timing. Manufacturers deliberately leave performance on the table so one engine can cope with varying fuel quality, climates and service schedules across global markets — a Stage 1 tune safely recovers that headroom.

It’s called “Stage 1” because it’s designed to run on a completely standard vehicle. There are no hardware changes, no new parts, and no modifications needed first. Your original file is always kept, so the car can be returned to factory settings at any time.

Stage 1

SPECIALIST · FOCUSED · HONEST

01

Health Checked

Every car is scanned and assessed before any tuning. A Stage 1 is only mapped on a healthy, standard engine.

02

Vehicle Matched

The Stage 1 file is developed for your exact make, model and engine variant — rolling-road proven, never a generic download.

03

Fully Backed

Your original file is saved, the tune is fully reversible, and every remap is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

ONE SERVICE, DONE RIGHT · STAGE 1 SPECIALISTS

Is Stage 1 right for your car?

Best suited to

Turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, where remapping unlocks the biggest and most cost-effective gains. A car in good health with a solid service history will take a Stage 1 tune comfortably — it’s the single best value-for-money upgrade for a standard vehicle.

Worth knowing first

Naturally aspirated engines see much smaller gains, so I’ll always be straight with you if a remap isn’t worth the money for your car. Any underlying faults — boost leaks, tired DPFs, worn clutches — should be sorted before tuning, which is exactly why every remap starts with a health check.

What to expect on the day

No workshop visits, no waiting around — I come to your home or workplace and the whole visit usually takes around an hour.

STEP 1

Health check

A full diagnostic scan before anything is touched. I’m looking for fault codes, boost leaks, DPF health, and anything else that could affect how the tune performs or make it unsafe. If something isn’t right, I’ll tell you before any work is done.

STEP 2

Original file read and backed up — twice, in different locations

Your factory ECU software is read and saved securely. It stays on record so the car can be returned to exactly as it left the factory at any point — no caveats.

STEP 3

File requested specifically for your vehicle’s ECU model, firmware and software version

The remap file returned has been written, tested and tailored to your exact engine variant, build date and health. I use rolling-road developed files from master tuners — this is NOT a generic file sourced from a no-name seller off eBay. I stand behind the quality fo these files.

STEP 4

Installed and tested on site

The new file is written to the ECU, the car is started and checked, and I’ll walk you through exactly what’s changed. You drive away the same day, backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Why I only offer Stage 1

A deliberate choice, not a limitation.

Why a mobile Stage 1 remap is completely safe

I can safely deliver Stage 1 remaps right to your doorstep because this level of tuning is engineered to work harmoniously with your vehicle’s factory-standard components.

01

It works within your car’s factory safeguards. Stage 1 respects the built-in tolerances of your engine, clutch and turbo — unlocking hidden performance without ever overstressing standard parts.

02

Nothing mechanical gets touched. With zero physical part changes, there’s no need for lifts, heavy tools or pressure-testing on your driveway.

03

The software is pre-tested for your exact car. No trial-and-error on a dyno — the map is developed specifically for your engine model before I ever arrive.

04

Installation is fast and secure. The electronic flash is highly stable and takes only a few minutes, eliminating the voltage risk that comes with lengthy custom programming.

05

There are zero public road hazards. Stage 1 needs no high-speed data logging on public streets — a stationary health check before and after is all it takes to confirm success.

Why I don’t offer Stage 2, Stage 3 or custom mapping on a mobile basis

While Stage 1 can be safely optimised using standard software calibrations, higher levels of tuning require a controlled workshop environment. To guarantee your safety and vehicle reliability, I don’t perform the following on a mobile basis:

01

Advanced hardware requirements. Stage 2 and Stage 3 modifications need physical upgrades like uprated intercoolers, turbochargers or exhaust downpipes — all requiring a workshop to inspect, fit and pressure-test before tuning begins.

02

The need for a dynamometer. Custom and high-stage maps rely on precise, real-time power measurement to fine-tune fuelling and ignition safely, which can only be done accurately on a workshop rolling road.

03

Data logging and road safety. Custom tuning demands aggressive, high-speed data logging to monitor the engine — doing that on public roads during a mobile visit is illegal, dangerous, and puts both me and the public at risk.

04

Power and voltage stability. Advanced flashing takes far longer, and the ECU needs a continuous, guaranteed power supply — even minor voltage drops from a mobile pack can permanently lock or damage it.

05

Mechanical safety margins. Higher-stage tunes push factory parts to their limits. If a hidden weak point fails mid-session, your car could be left stranded — a workshop has the heavy diagnostic kit to fix it instantly.

My mobile Stage 1 remaps deliver safe, reliable and noticeable performance gains — with absolute convenience and peace of mind.

Every customer signs a waiver

Before any remapping takes place, you’ll sign a short waiver confirming you understand the risks around any potential underlying mechanical issues. A Stage 1 is tuned on a standard engine that is in good health — the waiver keeps everything transparent and protects us both.

Honest Answers

Honestly: it can. A remap may affect your manufacturer’s warranty, and it’s worth talking through before you book — especially on a newer vehicle. I’d rather lose a booking than have you caught out.

Yes. A remap is a modification and your insurer needs to know. Many specialist insurers cover remapped vehicles at little or no extra cost — it’s usually a straightforward addition.

Driven the same way, most drivers see the same or slightly better economy — the extra torque means less throttle and fewer downshifts to make the same progress. Drive it hard and you’ll use more fuel. That part is down to your right foot.

Completely. Your original file is kept on record and the car can go back to factory standard at any time.

A Stage 1 tune is designed to stay within the safe mechanical tolerances of a standard engine. The files I use are rolling-road developed, and the pre-tune health check exists precisely so nothing is tuned that shouldn’t be.
